Jim Reynolds held various positions at Trinity United Church. He was a dedicated worker and leader. Sadly Jim passed away on Saturday May 19th at Riverview Manor in Peterborough. Trinity United Church was filled to capacity for his funeral, a tribute to a man who gave so much of his time to his community. Jim had a very interesting life which saw him being elected to the council of Burleigh Anstruther Township for 27 years and named County Warden in 1973 and 1988. He was also post master in Apsley for many years. The Lion's Club, of which Jim was a life-time member, were out in force to honour and say goodbye to a great comrade. We at Trinity will greatly miss Jim but the memory of his achievements will live on. Note: Trinity's Vacation Bible School runs from Aug. 20 to Aug. 24.

SUMMER

Summer has arrived, I just went downstairs to say goodnight to my kids and it is so nice and cool down there. Every time I look at them it makes me feel so good. It is my desire for each one of them to have so much in every area of life but also stuff, yet it seems that all they really want is just to play-fight, wrestle and spend time with me. So when I have the time, I take it. We also have a great time riding our four- wheeler. All seven kids pile on, some on the front and some on the back and away we go. Last duck hunt five of the kids went with me and man, did those ducks ever appreciate the high pitched squeals of delight, “ Daddy, daddy, there’s one, there’s one!”

So, I’ve come to the conclusion that there is no better place than Apsley! Everything else is down hill from here. Good woman, great kids, great riding, the best of fishing and hunting, what else can a man ask for, really? God has blessed me greatly and He is the same God everywhere. But not every man will let Him be a part of his life. I am being very serious. I just about destroyed my life and at the same time just about lost everything that meant anything to me. But when I gave my life to the Lord He started to build my life back again piece by piece and over the last 15 years it has just gotten better and better. That is what God wants to do for everyone! Some say, “Well if God cares so much why is so much going wrong in my life?” Each one of us have battles with different things and God doesn’t make anybody go to Church pay tithes and be good to one another. He gave each one of us a free choice! There will be many things that He will tell you to do and as you do those things, the blessings that go along with it, will come. But in the end He gave us a free will! If you will ask Him to help then He will. Many people don’t even acknowledge God until things go wrong, then they blame Him for it all, when really, God had nothing to do with it. The Bible says in John 10:10 that the Devil came only to kill, steal and to destroy, but I (Jesus) have come that you might have life abundantly! Many times, people don’t even need the devil; they screw up all on their own. For instance, you had a bad day at work, or some idiot ripped you off. Then you come home and your wife says something that you think is dumb, you lose it and say a lot of stuff to her that you shouldn’t. Then you get mad at God. How do I know? I go to minister in jail, and see the people that are in there, and you know something, it’s never their fault. It is always someone else’s fault! Besides, I was there doing the same thing too. The sooner you wake up to the real world, and take your knocks like a man the sooner you can get ahead. I was in court last week with some people yearning to help them and I did some, but it is pretty hard to help anyone that lives in denial and blames everyone for their problems in life. When you are done blaming others, and if you’ll ask God He can and will help you. You see God is not like most people, who like you if you do what they want, but if you don’t do what they like they dump you. God is not like that. God cares about you all the time! He won’t leave when things don’t go His way or when you’ve missed it because God loves you! You may have had people around in the good times, but in the bad they are gone. The Bible says that God will never leave you or forsake you. He still won’t make you serve Him but He is waiting until you are ready and He will still be there to pull you up and out of the mud. God wants to bless your life to the fullest, in every way. Maybe you are at a place in your life where you don’t know where to turn, let me give you a hint, run to God.
