06 June, 2007  Break and Enter Investigations

Peterborough County O.P.P. is investigating two break and enters in the area. The first break and enter was to a cottage on Sunset Crt. in Galway-Cavendish-Harvey Twp. Police were called yesterday morning when the owner of the property discovered that the cottage had been forcibly entered. Once inside culprit(s) removed an undisclosed amount of money and a number of bottles of alcohol. It is believed this incident took place sometime since the 31st of May 2007.

In the second investigation officers were also called yesterday to a Fire Route 1 North Kawartha Twp. cottage when a worker discovered that the cottage had been forcibly entered. Culprit(s) made off with electronics including D.V.D. and C.D. player as well as a stereo receiver and speakers. Alcohol and Beer were also taken as well as an undisclosed amount of cash and five (5) cameras. This incident is believed to have occurred sometime since the 04th of June 2007.

11 June, 2007 Boat Trailer Stolen from Cottage

Peterborough County O.P.P. is investigating the theft of a boat trailer from a Fire Route #74 North Kawartha Twp. cottage. Police were called on the 08th of June 2007 when the owner of the cottage discovered it missing. It is unknown when the trailer went missing, however, it is believed to have been stolen sometime over the past week. Decscription: 1985 TRAILCRAFT 800, White in colour. The trailer was set up for a 16’ boat.

North Kawartha
Police Services Board (PSB)

The PSB in North Kawartha has overall responsibility for the provision of adequate and effective police services. This means working with the OPP to develop priorities and budget, and receiving regular reports from the Peterborough Detachment Commander. The PSB meets the 3rd Thursday of every other month, at 1:00 pm in Township Council Chambers, and the public is welcome to attend. Public participation is also encouraged through the North Kawartha Community Policing Committee (NKCPC) which meets at the Woodview Community Centre (even months) and Township Council Chambers (odd months) at 7:00 pm on the 3rd Wednesday of each month.
