Mykola Semkowycz known as “Mickey” passed on July 9th at age 87. He and his wife Stella moved to Apsley in 1963 and built the Apsley Hotel, replacing an older building next to Sayers I.G.A. The building is now know as Chyler Court. The new Hotel opened in 1967. The family ran the hotel and restaurant until 1987 when they retired to Campbellford. Their son Walter passed away during this time. About a year ago they moved to Toronto where Mickey suffered from Alzheimer's. Mickey died July 9, 2007.
