Blackfly Summer Theatre Presents

The Blackfly Summer Theatre in association with the North Kawartha Parks and Recreation Department proudly present ‘Seven Stories’ and ‘Painting Churches’. Seven Stories is an award-winning hit comedy by Morris Panych. This production appears at the Apsley Community Centre Theatre from July 25-28, August 1-4 and August 8-11. Painting Churches is Tina Howe’s heart-warming comedic drama. This production appears August 22-25 and August 29 to Sept 1. Come and enjoy these excellent productions by the Blackfly Summer Theatre Company. Tickets are available in advance at Stephen’s & MacDonald Shell and Apsley’s Garden & Cottage Shop. We would like to thank all the sponsors for making this event possible!

Apsley Antique Auctions will again be returning to the Apsley Community Centre. Call 656-9467 if you have items that you would like to consider for the auction and to confirm dates and times.

The North Kawartha Public Library will be hosting its annual Ham Supper at the Apsley Community Centre on August 16th. Please call 656-4333 for tickets and more details. The Voices for Jesus Gospel will be visiting the Wilson Park Community Centre on August 25.

We are proud that the Township of North Kawartha now boasts Public Washrooms in the heart of Apsley. Unfortunately these washrooms were vandalized in the first week. Please call 656-4445 if the washrooms need attention and more importantly, please report any vandalism or suspicious activity.

Many More Thanks

by Sandy Zimmerman

The Apsley Village Market+ project has been realized with the invaluable assistance of a number of organizations and businesses. We thank the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #381 for sponsoring our Local Initiatives application. Thanks to The Greater Peterborough Business Development Centre, Inc., A Community Futures Development Corporation: the grant has made our venture possible.

The following local businesses have been most generous with discounts and sometimes outright donations: Ambrose Moran, Re/Max Realty; Apsley Custom Sawmilling; Apsley's Garden & Cottage Shoppe; Donia's Tim-Br-Mart; The Heart of Apsley; Jack Lake Landscape Products ; John Parberry Lumber; Jude's Signs; N.H. Wilson Building Supplies; River Bend Sandblasted Signs; Sayers IGA; Suhrfers; Wellington Street; William Woods Lumber.

On Saturday, July 28, 9:30, we had the official opening of Apsley Village Market. To mark the occasion, each vendor had contributed to a huge gift basket. It was  displayed on the 21st and drawn on the 28th.

PS You can now buy a cappuccino or latté on Fridays as well at the market. They will be serving from 10 am on.
