We as a society have the right to do pretty much what we want to. Believe what we want, do what we want, live our life the way we want, go to work, or not. But the one thing I can’t figure out is that when things go wrong in life we want to blame every one else for our problem. It is our parent’s fault, the government, it’s hydro’s fault that my bill is too big, her fault I was speeding, blah-blah blah. The truth is every one wants to do what they want, when they want, but when they have to pay for it, it is always someone else’s fault. Sooner or later we have to take responsibility for our own actions, and realize that you are where you are because of the way you have lived your life. You can live in denial and continue to blame every one else your whole life long and be miserable, or you can be real with yourself and begin to take responsibility, and then you can begin to get help. I know what I am talking about. Why? Because when I was younger I had a brother that never bought anything unless he had the money for it. It seemed he had a self-control that I never had. He would work for a few years, if that was what it would take, then when he had the money he would buy the truck, car or what ever it was. Me, on the other hand, as soon as I was able to started borrowing money, I did. Just because I did not have the patience to wait, I had to have it now. So, I would borrow the money, and pay double for the same thing. When my brother died at the age of 19, he had a lot of money in his bank account, whereas all my increase went to interest. I’m not saying that borrowing money is wrong! Many people could not buy houses, cars or whatever if they did not borrow. The point I’m making is that where I went wrong was that I started blaming the banks for charging so much interest and then to top it off would judge others for having stuff and money when the truth was they were just better with money than I was. When I realized that it was my debt, I had borrowed it and it was my fault that I could not travel like others or do what they were doing, that I was able to get our of financial trouble. There is a saying I heard years ago, “You can pay now and play later, or you can play now and and pay later!” It is up to you what you do, but don’t blame everyone else for where you are. You may not be able to do anything about yesterday but you can today. We have all made mistakes in our lives and it’s when we learn from our mistakes that we then can begin to get out of our problems. Being a minister I see so many people break up over money, and the many pressures that comes along with looking cool or having all the stuff.Let me suggest you might be better to down size and be happy and actually enjoy your life than just try to keep up appearances. Life is way too short to be unhappy. Jesus came that we would have life in abundance but it’s not our responsibility to pile the abundance on. Our part is to work hard, begin to pay off your bills and the Lord will bless the man or woman that puts his or her hand to something. Give the Lord place in your life do things His way and you will get His results…or, do it your way…how’s that working for you?
