Apsley Winter Carnival

The Spring Carnival a.k.a. the Winter Carnival was a great success no matter what you call it. Snow sculptures, Hay Rides, Children’s Story Time, Trappers showing their skills and Entertainment by the Musicians and Warren Smith. Ah yes, we all had a great time and the highlight of the day... the Dog Races.

Kawartha Nordic Ski Club

On Feb. 18th the K.N.S.C. had an official opening of their 2 stories high clubhouse with large windows for solar heating. Speeches with accolades going to Dave Woodfine and his crew and to the Church family for their help. Many of the original members from 1974 are still active. This is when trail blazing started. The original tours started in Apsley. Some had to be curtailed due to insufficient snow. Today there are hundreds out there enjoying themselves. The purchase of private land insures that the club will always carry on. This is quite a legacy to leave.

EGGS

My wife & I went to breakfast at a restaurant where the "seniors' special" was two eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast for $1.99. "Sounds good," my wife said. "But I don't want the eggs." "Then I'll have to charge you two dollars and forty-nine cents because you're ordering a la carte," the waitress warned her. You mean I'd have to pay for not taking the eggs?" my wife asked incredulously. "YES!!" "I'll take the special then." "How do you want your eggs?" "Raw and in the shell" my wife replied. She took the two eggs home.
DON'T MESS WITH SENIORS. WE'VE BEEN AROUND A LONG TIME
