    Apsley Lions Club
    by Joan Forsyth

Did you get to the Winter Carnival? It was a lot of fun and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Forty seven dog teams registered for the event and it was very exciting watching their antics. Thanks to all the local groups and volunteers that helped to make it a success. Next year it should be bigger and better!

The time for the Giant Lions Flea market is rapidly approaching. Community support has always been great – and the funds raised help many of our local groups and projects.

When you start cleaning out those cupboards or garages, please think of the good that can be accomplished by donating good, clean articles to the Apsley Lions. There is free pick-up of goods by calling 656-3220 or 656-2930. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Taking your mother or spouse out on Mother’s Day? The Lions will host a delicious Mother’s Day Brunch at the Apsley Community Centre on May 13th from 10 to 1 PM. Hope to see you there!

    Apsley Community Care

Do you want to make a difference?

Community Care provides numerous services for our seniors in the area including Meals on Wheels, Transportation, the Caremobile, Reasurance Checks and Friendly Visiting.

Fund raising has become a large part of the organizations in town and Community Care is no exception. Most of our volunteers are also elderly so this can become a real chore but they are willing and dedicated.

You can help! Would you take part in our Walkathon on May 31st? Details or pledge forms are available from the office. Please drop in or call 656-4589.

Community Care is always looking for individuals with a few hours to spare on a weekly or monthly basis. There is a job for everyone. Why not find out about this volunteer opportunity. It is right here in Apsley.

PM. Hope to see you there!
