Lisa, Gary, Max, Todd C, Fred, Fiona K, June C, Dr. K Mohar, Keith H, Peggy D - Thx to all of you for your care & attention on 16-July when I had an accident on my bike @ the 620 / 504 intersection, just N of Apsley.  Two broken bones, some stitches in my arms, & some scrapes, cuts & bruises, I’m doing fine.  Ev

Also, thanks to Melissa, Gary, Ike, two other firefighters, & Chandos Lake neighbours King & Cathy and Al – for your instant response  & offer of help on July 26'th when the tree mistakenly landed on the hydro lines behind our cottage.  Enough excitement for this vacation - don’t worry - our vacation at the cottage is over, we’re heading home! Trinity United Church
Service at 11.30 am with Rev. Don Green.
August 15th was the start of Trinity United Church's annual Vacation Bible School. This year's program was under the direction of Del and Judith Manary. About 20 boys and girls registered. Since frogs were the theme, all the crafts, games, and activities involved frogs. Rev. Don Green told stories such as Daniel and the Lion's Den. He related these to Daniel's reliance on God to save him. He explained the meaning of F.R.O.G. (Fully Rely On God). Frog cookies, frog bean bags, frog tool boxes as well as outdoor frog games were enjoyed by all. Some of the children attended other VBS in the past. This children's VBS is very special to Trinity United. P.S. We hope to capture any loose frogs before Sunday's service

St George's 130'th Anniversary
by Ian Evans

St. George’s Anglican Church celebrated its 130th anniversary on Sunday August 7th, 2005.  the Reverend Peter Bishop conducted a Holy Communion Service at 11am.  Reverend Peter created a special bulletin for the service, with a brief history of the church.  He also read out letters he had received from past ministers and parishioners, which included several amusing anecdotes.  Reeve Jim Whelan brought greetings and congratulations from the Township and praised all the recent renovations.  While the old church has been “spruced up”, the comment was made that the building has retained its character and charm.

Rosalie McColl, a member of St. Georges for 87 years was presented with red roses.  The McIlmoyl sisters, Cheryl Armstrong, Rose Tucker and soloist Mae Reddick formed a choir while Mary Ellen Wilson, our church organist for over 40 years played beautifully throughout the service.

Thanks to everyone who helped to make this a great anniversary party.St George turns 130

The Apsley Bard

Rock and Roll Heaven
The Dream of  Rockin' Ronnie Hawkins

Last night while I was sleeping I had a friggin' fright
The Big Rocker came up to my bed and said in dark of night "I need a rockabilly soul", He said, "for us to really rock And my sidemen they all tell me I gotta get The Hawk"

I got Jimi as lead axe-man, and George H. is playin' bass
Jerry Lee is pounding keyboard, a-tearin' up the place
I've got my eye on Ringo,  these guys will really rock,
When they gets themselves a front man, an' they all ask for The Hawk

(chorus)
I got the makings of a band, no angels need to play
They rock and they roll nightly on the Milk and Whiskey Way
The Big Rocker is your agent, ticket sales by the block
But we won't get on the bus, man, not without the Hawk.

I know I sent an invite, Hawk, a little premature,
I was offerin' you a contract, but not if you weren't sure
I'll wait to get the right guy,  till your earthly gig is done
Cuz Ronnie's got the heart and pipes, to catch us one long run

(chorus)
I've got myself a heavenly band, no angels asked to play
They rock and they roll nightly on the old Wild Turkey Way
The Big Rocker is your agent, the big time is a lock
But He won't get on the airplane, not without the Hawk.

So when you are really ready, when you've belted your show stopper
Come up and join King Elvis, with Buddy and the Bopper
But down there in the meantime, I'm asking where you'll go
As you ask the crowd where 'ere you play. Watcha doin' after the last show?

Hawk says he isn't comin', Not yet.
(sung to "shave and a haircut")
