The Youth Voice

by Christine Everett

The Youth Committee has been out in force this past summer. During the past few months the committee has held the Village Clean up, a fundraising BBQ for young Jayde, an information night, assisted the Apsley Food Bank during the Canada Day Parade, manned a recruitment table at the Arts Way Table during the Lions Flea Market, volunteered for the Lifelong Learning Centres “Links for Literacy” Golf Classic, helped out with the United Way BBQ, helped the Food Bank collect items at the IGA table, assisted the Public Library with their Ham Dinner and Silent Auction, and held a successful Youth Dance in support of the Food Bank. WOW!!

What’s next you ask, well how about Dinner Theatre.  This Youth Committee along with the Hollywood Hopefuls have partnered with the Parks & Recreation Department, and Storm the Trent in the Kawartha’s to provide a weekend of Dinner and Theater, so mark your calendars for Friday, September 30th and Saturday October 1st as there will be a two night run of the  hilarious hillbilly comedy “Shot Gun Wedding”.
Lasagna is being served on Friday with spaghetti & meat sauce on Saturday.  The menu also includes homemade salads and deserts along with hot and cold beverages.  Tickets for this event are available in advance at the Apsley Public Library for $15 or available at the door for $20.

Don’t forget to stop by and buy a burger or hotdog and browse our Rummage Sale that is being held Saturday, September 3rd from 8:00am until sold out.

If you would like to attend any of these events, or would like to get in touch with us, you can e-mail us at
