It has been a very busy summer for our members but thanks to the support of our citizens, it was a very successful one. The Canada Day Celebration was the best to date, the annual Flea Market was very successful, and the Boat & Motor tickets are nearly sold out. Thanks to the Jacks Lake Cottage Association for having the Lions participate in the Regatta again this year. Thanks to everyone for your support of the Lions projects. The Lions wish to thank the volunteers from the North Kawartha Fire Department who generously gave their time and energy to help move the mountain of goods that were donated for the Flea Market. There was so much, it could not all be put into the arena so we are having another sale. There will be lots of bargains because these goods cannot be stored through the winter. So come and take a look on Saturday, September 3rd at the the Apsley Arena. The sale will begin at 8:30 AM and everything must go! Please plan on attending the Lions delicious fall dinner on Saturday September 24 at the Apsley Centre. For tickets or information, contact Lion Darlene at 656-2782. Proceeds from these events will help support the Health Centre renovation.
Wind Storm hits Marvel Rapids Anyone who has played Marvel Rapids Golf Course may have experienced that tin PING or perhaps more like a BANG sound. The first tee off of the game usually resulted in that noise for me. It seemed the barn would just jump right in front of the ball!! A micro-burst touched down and removed this man made obstacle in late July, and thankfully no one was injured.
