17-Year-Old Rescued From Water

On Sunday, July 18th at 1:35 AM, officers from Peterborough County OPP attended at a Lakeshore Drive residence in Smith Ennismore Lakefield Township on the report of a male calling for help from the lake. Upon arrival, the officers were advised that a witness had heard calls for help and had two other individuals go out onto Buckhorn Lake to assist. A young male was located and rescued after he had capsized his 12 foot canoe which was powered by a 2 Hp gas motor. The youth, age 17 years and cannot be identified, of Curve Lake was subsequently arrested for "impaired operation of a vessel" and "operating a vessel with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in his blood" and is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court in Peterborough on the 30th of August.



Local Nailed for DUI

At 6:48 PM on the evening of July 22nd, officers attended at a single vehicle rollover motor vehicle collision on Highway #28 north of Haultain in North Kawartha Township. Investigation has found that a man - 51 years of age - of North Kawartha Township was operating his pickup northbound when he left Highway #28 rolling over receiving minor injuries which did not require hospital treatment. He has been charged with "dangerous operation", "impaired driving" and "operate a motor vehicle with more than 80 mgs. of alcohol in his blood", and is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court in Peterborough on September 7th.



OPP Marine Equipment Vandalized

On Sunday evening, August 1st, a Peterborough County OPP Marine Unit was patrolling on Anstruther Lake. At around 10:30 PM, the Marine Officer returned to the boat trailer, a 2000 Shoreliner. The side wall of one of the trailer tires had been slashed.
Two-Vehicle Collision on Hwy 28

The investigation into a two-vehicle collision on Highway # 28 at Mount Julian Road continues. The two vehicles collided on Highway # 28 at around 6:30 p.m. on a Saturday evening last month. 34 - year old Yvonne Foster of Toronto was southbound and was in collision with a northbound vehicle driven by 28 - year old Aimee Summers of Beamsville. Summers was accompanied by a passenger, Derrick Brown, also 28 - years of age of Beamsville. Victims of the impact were treated at PRHC [Peterborough Regional Health Centre] for non - life threatening injuries. Charges are pending.



Lovesick Fatality - Burleigh Falls

Early on Sunday, August 8th, emergency services responded to a medical emergency at Lovesick Lake Park in Burleigh Falls around 1:30 a.m. A 49 - year old Toronto man, who was visiting acquaintances, complained of not feeling well and went to bed. He was discovered a short later in medical distress. CPR was performed. Unfortunately efforts to revive the man failed. He was pronounced dead at PRHC. Peterborough County OPP and the Coroner are investigating the circumstances of the sudden death. The matter is not considered suspicious.
