Apsley
Lions Club
By Joan Forsyth The autumn leaves are making
their presence known among the trees and the many of the Lions are
planning their move to the sunny south. The events have wound down
a little after a very hectic summer. They deserve a rest.
The Lions members cannot express their thanks enough for the support
they receive from the community. The Flea Market and the Boat &
Motor draw were both financially successful again this year. We
|
were sorry that one of our local residents
did not win any of the items but I think the cottagers also lend their
support and purchase many of our tickets. Jeff Gagne of Whitby won
the Boat & Motor with ticket #527. Linda Moore of Orono won the
beautiful Lighthouse with ticket#2054. The Windmill was won by Joyce
Appleton of Brampton with ticket #1712 and Ann Vincze of Oakville
won the Birdhouse with ticket #1934. Congratulations to all the winners
and thanks to all those who purchased tickets. Please don't give up.
Thanks |
also to Tucker Marina for supplying the
Boat & Motor and to Lion Tony Assinck for the beautifully crafted
windmill, lighthouse and birdhouse. We couldn't do it without you!
Join us on Oct 2 and 3rd when Storm the Trent triathlon comes to Apsley.
Athletes will compete in a two day event combing cycling, canoe/kayak
paddling and hiking. They will leave and arrive back to the Lions
Community Park and the award ceremonies will be held in this area
as well. We hope to see you there.
