The TD Summer Reading Program, '20,00 READS UNDER THE SEA' at the Apsley and Woodview Libraries, was enjoyed by a record number of children this year. The reading program included theme related stories, crafts, a reading contest and visits by two very special guests. 'Dive with Diana', presented by Diana Storen, included dive videos from the Pacific Ocean and Lake Ontario shipwreck sites, as well as dive equipment for the children to try on and door prizes. A big hit, thanks to the sponsorship of the Apsley & District Lion's Club. Our own George Schultz, friend of the Manatee, made a presentation to the children about the near extinction of this gentle giant, with videos and stories of his special friends in the freshwater rivers of Florida. Each child received a Manatee poster and then created' Save the Manatee' posters of their own. Thanks, George! A very special 'THANK YOU' to our dedicated student volunteers, Codie Lean, Nina Vos and Katherine Bailey. We couldn't have done it without you.
