Seniors & Lions Club
Glen Alda Seniors
Roy Allen, President

Well, Glen Alda Seniors had another enjoyable year with interesting discussions on community affairs, special informative speakers, a variety of cuisines prepared by the ladies, and card playing. Our social outings were a luncheon at the Cody Inn in Buckhorn, a BBQ at the Allen's, and a Christmas dinner. Club membership has increased by nine, and we welcome the new members in fellowship and participation. This past April, Marie and Neil Rogers were our guests at lunch and shared old time memories with friends. For those that don't know, Neil Rogers was our Reeve for several years and participated in the beginning of Glen Alda Seniors Club. They are moving to Peterborough and we wish them all the best. As for past years, this year has been enjoyable and it is a pleasure to be a member and help contribute. Thank you to the members and executive.

If you are interested in our activities, come join our group. For information, please contact Shirley Allen at 656-1791.

Apsley Lions Club
Canada Day Celebrations

Canada Girl  The Apsley Lions would like to organize a family event with our local community groups to celebrate the birthday of our great nation.

Beginning with a grand Canada Day Parade at 4:00 PM, the event will continue at the Apsley Centre and the Lions Community Park with activities for the whole family.

We are asking local groups to sponsor a family-oriented activity.  Bake tables, fair-type games, small crafted sale items and displays are acceptable but cost must be kept to a minimum so everyone can afford to take part. Organized with care, your group could cover costs and make a little profit.  Each group must be self-sufficient.

The Lions will have their booth open for food sales as this will help with the cost of the fireworks display at dusk.

Please, plan to take part in the Canada Day Celebration. A community fun day!

Watch for information on the Giant Indoor Flea Market at the Apsley Centre on July 17th.

Vendors and display tables are still available.

For further information, call Joan at 656-3727, fax 656-3984.
