ABC SENIORS
By Dianne Langille Do you suppose spring temperatures are finally here? Time to store that winter attire, and bring out the bug shirts. Many of us are anxious to get involved with golfing and gardening. However, indoor activities continue with the seniors. On April 25th, Alice Liberty and a few from her class traveled to Burnt River. Almost 70 Line Dancers from surrounding areas joined together for a tiring, but enjoyable ‘Fun Day’ of dancing. Line Dance instructions with Alice continue to the end of June. The final class will be held on June 25th at a BBQ with our hosts, Bill & Liz Johnston. Several of our seniors participated in the Peterborough County Senior Games, Euchre Tournament held on May 9th at the Community Centre. 1st Place winners were Rose Tucker and Darlene Doxsee. Visitors from Lakefield W. Spencer and Elmer Graham came in 2nd. Place. Ruth Tanner and Elaine Reddick claimed 3rd Place. Highest scorer of the tournament, with 6 lone hands and 70 points was Elaine Reddick. These three teams will represent Apsley in the area finals on June 6th Regular meetings will end for the summer break following our annual BBQ, which has been scheduled for June 24th. Mark that date for a good time. Enjoy a Safe and Happy Summer!
Burleigh Road Historical Society Jean Henninge Do you know which house in Apsley is the oldest? Where the first blacksmith shop was located? This summer, there will be a historical walking tour guide of the village available to answer these questions and give you a brief look into Apsley's early times. Pick up a pamphlet at one of the various locations in the village and take a stroll around town !
