By Gary GeraldiThe Annual Lions Canada Day Parade and Celebrations will be held on July 1st. The parade begins at 4pm and entertainment will follow at 5pm in the Apsley Community Centre. There will be food, activities and live music. |

An excellent community resource right on your doorstep, we offer books, videos, books-on-tape, magazines, high-speed Internet, computer tutorials, scanning, printing, CD burning, computer design and much more! “Dragons, Books, and Quests” is a six –week TD Summer reading, activity, and cyber program for kids ages 6-13, taking place from Wednesday, July 7-Wednesday, August 11 from 9:30-11:30 am. Pre-registration is required! Please call 656-4333 to register or for more information. $24.00/child for six weeks, family rate available. Join us for fun and informational cyber-workshops—Create your own T-shirt on Saturday, July 31 2-4 pm. You supply the T-shirt (white is best), photograph or design idea, we supply the expertise, scanner, computers, transfer papers and irons. “Sold for $20.00”—become an on-line bidder with our Introduction to E-Bay hands-on seminar, taking place Saturday, August 21st, 2-4 pm. Cost of workshops: $10.00/session. Computer courses will begin again in the autumn. The monthly Lecture Series at the Apsley Library continues on July 17th, at 7:00 pm. Dan Coulas, park superintendent, will speak about the Kawartha Highlands Signature Site Provincial Park “Storm the Trent” adventure race will be the lecture topic on Thursday, August 15th, at 7:00 pm. Admission: $4.00 To successfully complete the Community Skills Inventory Project we need your help. If you have not yet filled in a Survey please contact Katie or Lannie and we will get one to you! Help create more opportunity in our community. The Loon Calls: A History of the Township of Chandos by Jean Murray Cole has been reprinted and is for sale for $20.00 at the Library, Wellington Street and the Township office. The Second Annual “Links for Literacy” Golf Classic takes place in the afternoon of Saturday, July 24th at Marvel Rapids Golf Course. Entry fee of $55.00 includes green fees for nine holes, BBQ dinner, and the chance to win a 2004 Buick Century with a hole-in-one, courtesy of Boyer Pontiac Buick. Call 656-GOLF to book your tee-off time. The Seventh Annual Ham Supper and Silent Auction is on Thursday, August 26th 5-7 pm at the Apsley Community Centre. This is a much anticipated evening of family, fun and great food so get your tickets early (Adults $12.00, Children 12 & under $6.50, preschoolers free).
