BIG Changes at your local library!!
by Doug Hutton
The North Kawartha Public Library is delighted to
announce that it has started a project to change to the computer automation
system that will significantly improve customer service and provide numerous
new features. Patrons using their home computers through the internet
will eventually be able to:
These are just a few of the benefits of the new system.
The project team is going to make every effort to implement the system by
this summer.
Funding for this project generously provided through an Ontario Trillium Foundation grant. North Kawartha Lifelong Learning Centre Welcomes Susan Suhr In 2005 the Learning Centre received a grant from Human Resources Canada to create a temporary position through the Job Creation Partnership (JCP). The Job Creation Partnerships (JCP) employment benefit is a program designed to support projects developed by sponsors that create jobs that will provide insured participants with opportunities to gain meaningful work experience. At the end of their participation, clients will have recent work experience to add to their resumes and this, together with the networking which participants are able to do while on a project, increases their chances of successfully finding long-term employment. During the process we received many resumes from within and outside of the community. We then forwarded qualified resumes to HRSDC for their approval. HRSDC would then approve the resumes that fit the criteria and ask us to interview them. Susan will be working on the 2006 Community Directory and the Learning Centres Volunteer Database, so you may be hearing from her soon. When you do, don’t forget to ask about all her grandchildren. We are very lucky to have Susan join us, although temporary she is a great addition to the Learning Centre.
