The Burleigh Road Historical Society is an affiliate member of the Ontario Historical Society. We meet once a month at the Apsley Library. In addition to regular meetings, we have some interesting speakers who give informative talks of the Burleigh area. All are welcome to come to the meeting or become a member. The cost of membership is $5.00 per year. We meet on the second Tuesday of the month.

     Trinity United Church church

The lights are out except for a few candles burning. The Choir enters each one with a candle and dressed in new gowns. This was the start of Trinity's Christmas Eve Service. The service continued with Christmas Carols and the Choir, under the direction of Marie Watson singing the beautiful song Star Of The East. Rev. Peter Robinson told a story of a boy who found the Christmas Story more enjoyable than the fairy tales his mother usually read. The service concluded with Holy Communion. After the service the ladies of the UCW served lunch.

Scared Sheep   Don & Kevin built a skating rink in the middle of a pasture. One day a Shepherd leading his flock decided to take a shortcut across the rink. The sheep, however were afraid of the ice and wouldn’t cross it. Desperate, the Shepherd began tugging them to the other side. ba ba
“Look at that!”  remarked Don. “That guy is trying to pull the wool over our ice!”

Speaking of sheep and wool...when it rains, why don’t sheep shrink?
