LaFreniere #7333 Break-In At Watson’s Gas Bar Two persons are in custody, a third person is being sought, in relation to a break in at an Apsley business. Initially, around 6 a.m. on a Friday morning last month, the suspicious movement of a car and its occupants was reported to Peterborough County OPP. KPR Character Education Initiative
By Janet Mcdougall The students at Apsley Central have enthusiastically embraced the new KPR Character Education initiative. The four student members of our Character Education Team are; Zachary MacDonald, grade 8, Natalie Nesbitt, grade 7, Jacob Tracey, grade 6 and Candace Evans, grade 5. These students are supported by Mrs. Chappell. Our Character Team has done an amazing job of presenting the Character Attribute that students and staff are focusing on each month. Staff and students submit names of students they have observed demonstrating the Character Attribute of the month, along with a brief explanation of what the student was observed doing. The names are read each morning as part of morning announcements. One student from each grade is chosen by a random draw to receive special recognition. During an assembly the Character Team presents a medallion and certificate to the chosen students. Names of all the students who had their names submitted during the month are placed on our Character Tree in our Library. Mrs. St. Laurent works with our Character Team to keep our Character Tree up to date. When appropriate, a Principal’s Award is presented to a student for demonstrating outstanding Character. The Character Attribute for September was Respect. Students receiving the medallion and certificate were: Cameron Worr, Gavyn Young, Emerald Belford, Nick Trotter, Derrek Hatton-Croghan, Julie Hockridge, Taelor Crosby, Graeme Harrison, Dallas Cooney and Emily Kemp. The Character Attribute for October was Responsibility. Students receiving the medallion and certificate were: Shyanne Wise, Scott Picken, Kasey Hainer, Kali Tucker, Taylor Jeff, Caitlyn Evans, Taylor Russell, Jacob Tracey, Leah Daniels and Andrea Hockridge. Jerry Trotter, Grade 5 was the recipient of the Principal’s Award for finding and handing in to the office a wallet and money he had found. We are very proud of all our students. Staff and students would like to thank Apsley School Council for their support in purchasing the student medallions.
