JIM WHELAN (Reeve-Elect)
I would first like to take this opportunity to thank you for supporting me, for your time and informative chats. I may not remember all your names, but will remember your faces. My wife Darla-Marie has your concerns and ideas written down, they will not be forgotten. Calling on so many homes, made me realize how large our Township is and the diversity of its people. I would like to congratulate all of the candidates and I think we should all be proud that so many people came forward and ran such good campaigns. Your new council will be sworn in on Dec. 1, 2003, at 11:00 am in the Council Chambers. I hope as many people as possible will come out to meet and talk with their newly elected representatives over coffee. The first official council meeting will be Dec. 2nd starting at 9:30 am. All of North Kawartha Committee appointments will be made in the months of December or January. Please put in your application if you have a desire to sit on Planning, Health, Library or Police. Council will also be discussing a new Waste Committee to look at all aspects of waste and recycling, if you have an interest please apply. Council will be looking for a representative from each of the former townships, Burleigh, Anstruther and Chandos for each committee. From your concerns I know that the new council has many issues to address and some of these are urgent. On behalf of all of Council I want to thank you for your support in the election and your input in the future. Jim Whelan, Reeve Elect. |
