Apsley Legion Branch 381 by Donald Grant, President Apsley Branch 381 Upcoming Events
7:30 p.m. Open Darts Everyone Welcome Well once again I find myself writing a article on be half of the Legion and for those who don`t know I am the new President. At this time I would like to inform you that I won the election just by a hair in fact it was a tie between my self and 1st Vice Juanita Kemp who would be more then qualified to run this Legion branch. After a run off I won by one vote. We are lucky to have her as second in command. Lynda Harvey is second vice, Ian Evens as treasurer and Eileen Matthias as secretary, together with Lannie Reynolds, Art Reid, Roy Allen, Andy McMurry, Mary Ellen Wilson, and Terry Alger as executive members we will be taking on the responsibilities of the ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION Br. 381 APSLEY. We will do the very best we can to make this Legion Br. a vital asset to the community. So drop by and see us as the public is more than welcome to enjoy all the benefits of the branch so keep a eye on the sign outside for the upcoming events going on at the Legion I will be looking forward to seeing you. Now some of the things that have been going on are: Br.381 was presented with a new Canadian Flag for our pole by our Member of Parliament Barry Devolin, in fact he helped hoist it up also he made a interesting reference to the fact that the old worn flag needs to be replaced, much like the armed forces needs to replace necessary equipment like trucks and helicopters to play a role in the world to-day and Barry told us how that was being done which was good news indeed. July the 1st was a great day with the parade and the music going on in the back yard of the Legion many thanks go to Chris Berry and all his friends Rick and Judy Jim and Margo, Larry, Mike and Terry who come to our branch and play for free to help out. The steak dinner was a success, thanks to the hard work of Mary Brown, Ernie Pemberton, Jim Sweeny, Mike Cannon (who are not even members but want to help) also Elroy Trimble (new member) Anita Betridge, Eileen Matthias, Sandy Cordova, May Summers, Nancy Lehman. Roy Allen and Bill Dulmage were up stairs to explaining things that the Legion is involved in also to inform everyone about the up coming walk -a - thon which is being organized by Roy Allen and involves a great many. So your approached by a walker to pledge know that all the money raised will be going to the Legion to support the many community programs As you can see it takes a lot of people to make things happen and if I have missed any one I am sorry. So if you are interested in joining or helping out in anyway, be sure your help is needed and appreciated. I could go on but why not come in and see for your self. See you at the branch. Community Business Profile: JARMUTH CONSTRUCTION INC. “As the president of Jarmuth Construction Inc., I am pleased to announce our recent presence in the North Kawarthas and look forward to participating in the local business environment and more importantly as active members of your community and its people. Our history began in 1994 starting as a sole proprietorship functioning out of Stratford serving southwestern Ontario as a trades contractor. Undertaking tasks such as carpentry, concrete work including restorations, stucco to interior drywall systems and etc. We soon began to advance to that as general contractors managing multiple trades. Work was performed in the residential, commercial, industrial and municipal infrastructure sectors. As experience gained momentum, one thing remained constant; attention to detail and the desire to build trusting relationships. In 2003, the business was incorporated. Today we continue to deliver projects in the same excellent and professional manner that proved itself earlier. We are always disciplining ourselves to mind the quality of workmanship delivered by our own forces and that of qualified sub-trades. New technologies and trends are always being observed and qualified in order to offer clients alternatives to enhance comfort, and mind budgets. We wish to welcome your phone calls to discuss and consult on any of your proposed construction requirements. As well, we encourage all trades contractors of all disciplines to call us to allow us to become familiar with each other. Personally, our attraction to the North Kawarthas has been life long, having over three generations of family from the area and vacationing there all my life. The area we have gotten to know very well and consequently, it is the people we wish to get to know equally. Give us a trial.”
