APSLEY BOWMEN
By Bob Sutton
The Apsley Bowmen have been on target again for 2004. They have attended Eastern Zone shoots since April 4th, which is eight shoots, until the time of writing. Our Junior Lady, Amanda Brown, has been doing very well and so has her father Mark, in the Fingers Category. Club President, John Chapman, who shoots in the Barebow Category, seems well under way to the Zone Championships again this year. June 13th was Apsley’s 3rd 3-D shoot and we had 52 participants, some from as far away as Picton and Durham. Apsley’s next Zone competition will be August 29th. Visitors are welcome, but please report to the registration desk before viewing the course. We are looking for new members to use our two-20 target courses. Ladies, cubs, juniors and seniors are very welcome. Instruction and new and used equipment is available. Our range is located less than one km from Apsley on the 504 (at the green roofed house on the right hand side). There will also be an indoor winter shoot Monday nights at the Apsley Community Centre. Maximum distance at an indoor shoot is 20 yards. For more information regarding the indoor shoot, contact John Chapman at 656-3791, or Bob Sutton at 656-9401. For those of you who were able to see the Canada Day Parade, I hope you enjoyed our float. It was put together by Henry and his son Sean Wagner. Yours truly, was the moving target riding on the float. |
SINFUL SQUARES by Margaret Currie
The only other person who has this recipe, or something very similar, and who lives in Toronto will not let her best friend (not me) know what it is. So here it is! I found it on a recipe card in our son's handwriting when it fell out of a 1970s recipe book from Turtleford, Saskatchewan. There has been a continuing demand for it. Using a cookie sheet with raised sides all around, line the sheet with whole (unbroken) Graham wafers. Cover with slivered almonds or other favorite nuts.
Place in 350 degree oven for about 7 minutes until bubbly and lightly brown. Cool and break into squares. Enjoy!
