Lion Joan Forsyth Many thanks over the past year for your continued support of the Lion’s projects. The Club has tried to spread the funds raised to needed projects and events within our community. Often we cannot completely cover a project which we have been asked to assist due to lack of funds or prior commitments. We do our best. The Club will assist wherever possible but we must receive the request in writing. Please, send it to Apsley Lions Club, Box 325, Apsley, K0L1A0. We would like to extend our thanks to the Apsley Voice, (editors Bill and Liz Johnston), for the great coverage of the projects and fund-raisers we have sponsored. We hope everyone enjoyed the Canada Day parade. It is really a fun event when everyone takes part. We are looking at the park event afterward and feel it needs a lot of work. Any suggestions? Could we round up enough events to make it a little fair? Bring in some old events like log sawing and hammering nails? We are looking for suggestions and people that can help with these special items, so drop the Club a line at the address above or call 656-3727 with your suggestions. We would appreciate knowing what YOU want and we need the input.. If you feel the idea of fun in the park on Canada Day is a dead loss, we would also like to know. Summer is here but our members are still working - on the Giant Flea Market, helping with the sale of Boat and Motor tickets, running the Bingo every Wednesday at 7:30 PM at the Apsley Centre and other projects such as the Jack Lake regatta. Once again, we thank you - your support of the Lions Club helps support our community.

Gloria Barnes This exciting camp was held @ the Coburg Scout reserve on the
July 4th weekend. 15 of our Scouting youths had the opportunity to
camp with a group of 56 Scottish youth plus members from Pickering, Cobourg,
Oshawa and Bowmanville. The weekend was filled with group activities,
large campfire, learning all about Scotland, badge trading and great meals
prepare by King Lou. After camp our Cubs was able to discuss the
differences in our program compared to Scotland. Starting in September
we will be able to be pen pals with a pack in Scotland. Apsley Scouts
and Cubs have been asked, if we would like to travel over to Scotland in
2005. With the help and support from our community, we would like to see
this dream come true .
