Just Ask Sandy Z.

by Sandy Zimmerman

If I'm ill and all alone how can I get help?
When leaving the hospital the doctor may ask the Access Centre to assess the patient.  The A.C. assigns someone to assist with personal care.

Community Care at 656-4589 can provide visits, telephone checkups, meals on Wheels, housekeeping and homemaking, as well as crutches, personal distress alarms & s  me transportation.

What do I do if I can't hear the fire alarm?
Wes Krugar 656-4146
Canadian Hearing Society said there is a smoke alarm that emits a very loud sound - 85-90 decibels.  It also has a very intense strobe light.  The unit has to be hard-wired.  There is a 9-volt battery back up, but the strobe light doesn't work with the battery.

Where can I buy a puppy?
Fred @ 656-4874.
Lakefield Animal Welfare Society & the Humane Society in Pub. get pups, but more often it is grown dogs.  Price from $120-130   the pup is checked by a vet, has initial shots and is dewormed.  If it is a female, once the animal is spayed (owner's responsibility), the organization gives back a rebate of approx. $80.  It was suggested that local vets might know of someone whose dog is having pups.

Medical Centre Announcements

Dear Reeve Jim Whelan,

We would like to thank you for your tremendous efforts and handwork in procuring a much-needed nurse practitioner. The medical centre has also benefited from your efforts and we appreciate the new addition and the renovations, as they were greatly needed. Everyone that comes to our clinic is most impressed by the state of the art medical centre. Thank you Jim!

We are happy to announce the opening of a Well Women’s Clinic at the North Kawartha Health Centre. The clinic will be open Thursdays for women by appointment to see the nurse practitioner. Women are asked to contact Jeanne Brown (the nurse practitioner) for any ideas that would help make this day meet the needs of the women in the township of North Kawartha.
