Our Big, Fat Greek Dinner
Mark Friday, April 28th on your calendar and plan to attend our Big, Fat Greek Dinner.  Learn to prepare Greek Cuisine at the Glen Alda Community Centre…or just enjoy the social atmosphere and food! Space is limited for this fundraising dinner for the Resource Centre, so get your tickets today! $25.00 per person; includes instruction, dinner and a drink (LLBO).  Tickets available at the Library. Opah!

Kawartha North Community Directory

2nd Edition
The Resource Centre is preparing the 2nd Edition of Kawartha North Community Directory. Contact Susan Suhr at 705-656-4958 or by e-mail directory@kawarthanorth.org to confirm your business or community listing. No charge for community service listings and $5.00 for business listing. Advertising rate card is available upon request. The directory will be ready for distribution in May 2006.

Computer Courses
Spring computer courses for beginners & intermediate levels will be starting in April. We offer group courses and one-on-one training.  Visit or call the Resource Centre at 656-4958 to register.

North Kawartha Public Library
Read on…The Blue Spruce Reading Program
is offered at Apsley Central School continues until the end of April.  The captive audience (JK to grade 3) are enjoying the books so far.  Silver Birch Reading Club (grades 4 to 6), boasts eight young gentleman who are sharing their thoughts on the books they’ve read.  Their official Silver Birch mascot is ‘Tinker Toad’.

Tutoring
The Library and Resource Centre are pleased to offer private, confidential tutoring for children and adults in a variety of subjects.  Please call 656-4958 and speak to Pat for more information.

Your Community Resource
The Resource Centre offers computers with high speed Internet access, desktop programs and educational software for kids.  Ask us about: computer courses, one-on-one tutorials, workshops, services for small business, and help with resumes.

Hours: Tues 10-4, Wed 12-8, Fri 10-4, Sat 10-2.

March Break – “Washboard Hank”

A musical afternoon on March 13 was well attended and enjoyed by ‘kids’ of all ages.  Many thanks to our sponsors; Apsley & District Lion’s Club, Royal Canadian Legion- Branch 381 and the Township of North Kawartha for the use of the hall.

HOSPICE PETERBOROUGH 
VOLUNTEER TRAINING COURSE

For the Community of Apsley Hospice Peterborough offers a 27 hour course for people interested in providing support for individuals living with advanced life-threatening illness. The course explores issues related to death and dying, supporting the bereaved, and care for the caregiver.  If you are interested in attending or would like more information, please call Peggy Downey of Community Care - 705-656-4589 or Linda of Hospice Peterborough - 705-742-4042.The course will be done in nine (9) sessions, starting in the spring (April/May).
