Just a Thought
by Gord Johnston When you hurt someone, and it makes you feel good about yourself, the heart has gone cold and the ego has been inflated. But when you help someone for no personal gain, just to sincerely help. There is a feeling of peace and warmth. For this to happen the ego has been deflated and the heart becomes warm. If more people’s actions came from the heart rather than the ego, wouldn’t the world be a warmer place to live. The Apsley Bard
Winter Weirdness - 2005 What in hell is doing, when you can go snowshoeing, while the mercury is high When it’s two below and instead of snow you get rain from hip to thigh Then comes a change of day and the sky gives way to sun and freezing cold The trees they snap from the frozen sap and snow’s crust a truck will hold From knee to foot you wear snow boots to walk the icy floes From waist to hair, the air’s so fair you put sunscreen on your nose When the next days come, you could turn full numb from the change that suddenly Goes from what was fine in this Apsley clime to a day for a brass monkey Bob Service told, “Talk of your cold, it stabbed like a driven nail”,* One day we freeze, next a warm soft breeze causing most of us to ail With colds and grippe, our noses drip, there’s a plague of influenza And I ask, nay pray, will there come a day, when this winter finally end-za As I sadly peer at the dial I fear that I should hastily be fleeing To where every day is mild as May not ten months of %*@#) skiing © Barrie P.
