Apsley Lions Club
by Joan Forsyth
It’s time for a bit of fun and to bring the winter doldrums to a close. The Lions are still busy raising funds for the Health Centre. This project has only been possible due to the tremendous support given by our local citizens. The Health Centre is a very important object in all of our lives. We thank one and all for attending our Valentines Dinner and helping to make the funds available for this necessary renovation. We invite you to join in the fun on April 2nd at the Euchre and Pedro Card Night sponsored by the Apsley Lions. It will be held at the Apsley Community Centre with the games beginning at 7:30 PM. Admission is only $6.00 per person with proceeds going to the Health Centre. There will be a light lunch and prizes to add to the enjoyment of the evening. Come out for a night of fun and socializing with friends and neighbours. Plans are underway for our 16th Annual Flea Market, so please remember to re-cycle when you spring clean. Good saleable merchandise is sought for the Flea Market as all proceeds will aid the North Kawartha Health Centre. Vendor information is available from Lion Joan at 656-3727 or Lion Sally at 656-4547. See you there! The Lion’s Valentine dinner and dance was held on
Saturday February 12th. It was a great success with proceeds going towards
your Medical Centre. The Lion’s Club would like to thank all of those
that made this a great evening.

The cost is only one loonie per participant per class and we are busy stitching camouflage creations or macramèing jewelry. The winter - spring session is attended by 17 students seven years old and up. An extra special thanks to the Royal Canadian Legion for use of the facilities and especially to Wendy Cosby who volunteers with the program every week and helped pave the way for easy and free access to the Legion Hall.
